Enterprising Worcestershire Starting New Business

A Worcestershire woman has successfully set up her own independent training consultancy, after only being made redundant in April this year. Julia Roncella from Kidderminster launched Fontana Training in June, with the help from Enterprising Worcestershire.

Fontana Training delivers a range of police training, including specialist interviewing techniques for vulnerable and intimidated witnesses, and provides crime prevention workshops for schools and community groups.

Prior to launching the business, Julia had spent the last eight years working for West Midlands Police as a trainer. When informed she was to be made redundant, Julia did not let this hinder her career ambitions, and she set to work on achieving her long held goal of establishing her own consultancy.

To assist with the business set up, Julia was supported by the Enterprising Worcestershire scheme. She was assigned her own business advisor, Curtis Matthew, who provided expert start-up advice and support to develop her business idea and create a robust business plan. Through the programme, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Julia was also given help with her financial projections and assisted with successfully applying for a grant to kick start her business.
